Royal Adhesives and Sealants LLC Announces the Qualification of Hardman® WS 8020 to Aerospace Industry Specifications AMS 8802 and AMS 3276
Hardman® WS 8020 is the first Aircraft Sealant Qualified to Both Sealant Specifications

5/9/2006 – South Bend, IN – Royal Adhesives and Sealants LLC announced today that its Hardman® WS8020 line of manganese dioxide cured polysulfide aircraft sealants have been fully qualified to AMS 8802 and AMS 3276 aircraft fuel tank sealant specifications.

Hardman® aircraft sealants are manufactured at Royal Adhesives and Sealants Wilmington, CA facility, which has been certified to the AS 9100, ISO 9001/2000 and AS7200/1 NADCAP quality systems requirements and sold to Aerospace and Defense customers that require qualified sealants for demanding fuel tank and environmental sealing applications.

Ted Clark, Chief Executive Officer of Royal, commented: “This product qualification is a significant achievement for the company and underscores our efforts to listen to customers requirements for improving quality and reducing costs through a reduction of the number of products they need to use in their operations, while at the same time meeting all applicable material specifications and quality requirements.”

AMS 8802 and AMS 3276 qualified aircraft sealants are used on virtually all U.S. manufactured military aircraft. WS 8020 has outstanding resistance to aviation gasoline and jet fuel, as well as resistance to chemicals and petroleum products common to the aircraft industry and offers excellent flexibility and bond strength to most metal substrates like aluminum, stainless steel, steel, advanced composites and many coatings under extremes of temperature, weathering and stress.

Hardman® WS 8020 is the first aircraft sealant qualified to both the AMS 8802 and AMS 3276 sealant specifications, which will allow customers that require both qualified sealants to reduce inventory and administrative costs, minimize waste and improve quality by reducing the number of products required to meet these specifications by 50%.

Steven Zens, Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Royal, also commented: “The qualification of Hardman® WS 8020 aircraft sealant to AMS 8802 and AMS 3276 is the first in a series of new products we are working to qualify to both new and existing aircraft sealant specifications and we are looking at rapid growth in this market as a result. ”
